Service and Product Warranty Information
We stand by the quality of our installations and only work with trusted brands. Our warranties are designed to give you peace of mind—but like all technology, there are some limits to what’s covered.
Service Warranty – After Installation
12-Month Workmanship Warranty
Smoke alarms installed by Coast Smoke Alarms (CSA) include a 12-month workmanship warranty. If a fault develops within this period, we will attend, service and fault find the alarms with no service charge.
Exclusions:
A service fee and replacement alarm cost may apply if the fault is due to:
- Misuse, neglect, or failure to follow the manufacturer’s maintenance instructions
- Dirt, insect infestation, or other contamination
- Physical damage or tampering
- Any issue not covered under the manufacturer’s warranty
- Alarms altered, modified, or repaired by anyone other than CSA or an authorised provider
- Fire, flood, lightning, or other natural events
After 12 months, the manufacturer’s product warranty applies. We’re happy to assist with replacements, but a call-out fee will apply.
Note: This warranty does not cover smoke alarm compliance for lease events. To ensure legal compliance, we recommend our Annual Subscription service.
Product Warranty
Customers with an Active Annual Subscription
You’re entitled to full support at no extra cost:
- No call-out fee
- Free replacement alarm, provided:
- It is within the manufacturer’s warranty period, and
- The fault is covered under that manufacturer’s warranty
If you do not have an Active Subscription:
(includes properties where alarms were not installed by CSA or are outside CSA’s 12-month service warranty)
- Call-out fee applies for inspection and diagnosis
- Free replacement alarm, provided:
- It is within the manufacturer’s warranty, and
- The fault is covered under that manufacturer’s warranty
Warranty Disputes
If a warranty claim is disputed, the alarm will be returned to the manufacturer for testing. Both Coast Smoke Alarms and the customer agree to accept the outcome of the manufacturer’s assessment.
- If the alarm’s warranty has expired or deemed void, Coast Smoke Alarms will provide a quote for replacement.
Common alarm issues not covered under Warranty
Insect infested

Insect infested
This alarm has been affected by an insect infestation, with a spider nest clearly visible inside the sensor and casing. Damage from pests is not considered a manufacturing fault and is not covered under the warranty.
Dirty

Dirty
The alarm shows a build-up of dust and grime that may affect performance. Dust and fluff inside the unit can cause faults Lack of regular cleaning may void the warranty.

Damaged/Tampered

Damaged/Tampered
This alarm has been covered in an external substance and is not covered under the product warranty.
This alarm has been visibly damaged (bent prongs) from being forcibly removed or opened.
